• A disc gate is a type of pipe fitting in which the locking or regulating element has the shape of a disc rotating around an axis perpendicular or angled to the direction of flow of the working medium.
• Also, these devices are called flaps, rotary valves, hermetic valves, hermetic valves[2]. Most often, such fittings are used for large pipeline diameters, low medium pressures and reduced requirements for the tightness of the working body, mainly as shut-off valves[3].In disc shutters, the locking element, that is, the shutter, has the shape of a disk that can block the passage of the working medium through the annular seat in the housing by rotating (usually by 90 °) the shutter around an axis perpendicular to the direction of the medium flow, while the axis of rotation of the disk can be its own axis (axial disc shutters) or do not coincide with the axis (eccentric disc valves). Due to some similarity of the shape of the shutter with a butterfly, in English-speaking countries, disc valves are called butterfly valve.
